On Puberty Blockers

Iβve been thinking about this upcoming puberty blockers trial, and the constant demonisation of the medical practice from the likes of ghouls like Kemi Badenoch and Wes Streeting. As you might know, the drugs were banned for under 18s last year. Which is, a funny way to put it, as theyβre completely useless for post 18s anyway. Itβs like saying βyou can watch Peppa Pig when youβre 18β. By then, any benefits are completely off the table anyway.
Hereβs what I think. I think that any supposed βcareβ or βconcernβ that politicians or gender critical activists or media organisations claim to have for children, is completely and utterly disingenuous. I think that those who so ardently oppose any and all puberty blocker treatment for trans youth are, actually, just terrified of a potential future in which trans people will not be visually identifiable. Puberty blockers make this a reality by eliminating the psychologically destructive and irreversible effects of an unwanted, βnaturalβ puberty.
A world without puberty blockers is a world in which the status quo is cruelly maintained - in which any trans youth must suffer through their own unwanted puberty - and then, if theyβre βluckyβ be slow tracked onto the deeply flawed NHS transgender healthcare process. Late stage hormone therapy will do some good, but any meaningful passing will only be achieved through costly surgeries and a lifetime of therapy. This is what they want thought. It is by design.
What banning puberty blockers does is, it robs a trans child of the possibility to grow up comfortable. It steals away any chance they might have of a psychologically naturalistic physical body development, where growth is gradual and easier to comprehend. This is a nightmare for the opposers of puberty blockers, because they hate trans identity, and believe those who have one are deserving of punishment in some way. To them, trans people are freaks - and should remain identifiable as such.
Trans children are a taboo to these people, because they go against the ridiculous theory that trans identity is a βmental illnessβ born out of a βporn sickβ addiction. If trans people arenβt forced into a brutal and discordant physical change in adulthood, how then will they be able to maintain that unevidenced line of thinking? How will we be punished for our audacity? How will they know who to bully?

This is a subject that I have thought about a lot and I do agree with you whole heartedly. You often see the likes of the appalling Mr Linehan saying, there is no such thing as a Trans child, this is such a stupid [and dangerous] thing to say. Certainly for myself and I suspect the vast majority of people who are trans or have dysphoria, you know from a very early age that you feel different, that you don't fit in like you should. Puberty blockers were not available when I was a child, they came too late for me, and I know I will never really pass as my preferred gender now, but to deny children the care they deserve now, when they could be helped, is just so sad.
