I’ve been seeing a lot of enthusiasm for, and despair of, AI (Artificial Intelligence, but not the movie) lately - and more than anything, I’m just finding it all a bit exhausting.

On the one hand, I get that it’s scary. It seems like it’s advancing at a wacky pace, and the implications it’s probably going to have on the creative industries, and people’s jobs, are awful. But at the same time, even the most recent examples I’ve seen of generated, ‘photorealistic’ videos with fully realised speech and music leave me cold. Like, I can see that it’s technically impressive, but so is prog-rock - and that doesn’t have any artistic value either.

The best use of AI I’ve seen as of yet…

If not though, I hope you enjoy the weekly free article (and podcast!) that goes out every week. Thank you :)
